About Sarah Hillware
At a young age, Sarah Hillware has already accomplished much. Most recently, she began hosting a new online radio show, entitled "The Sarah Hillware Show: Shedding Light on Community Innovation." She is an award-winning poet, featured in the 5th Annual Activist Award & Grassroots Gala in Washington, DC in 2009, a champion of social entrepreneurship and volunteerism and a small business owner. She ...is also a scholar, having gone to college 2 years early and through a new pioneer program, fittingly named The George Washington University Early College Program (GWECP).
She is currently a junior and will obtain a B.A. from the Elliott School of International Affairs with a concentration in global public health and pre-medical studies in spring 2013. In her early teens, Sarah developed a passion for cultures, community service, social determinants of health and recognizing disparities through the performing arts in an youth-led theater performance non-profit called City at Peace and has performed in live city-wide musicals, depicting solutions to social issues.
She has performed at Arena Stage, the Kennedy Center and the Atlas Theater. Having lived in 3 major US cities in her youth: New York City, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Washington, DC, she has been molded in a way that allows her to see things from many different points of view, which has lead her to be a public speaker and community advocate in the Washington, DC area. Sarah is currently serving as the Mid-Atlantic Student Advisory Board Member of medical missions to Latin America with MEDLIFE, president of the GWU International Peace Quest Institute, and is a volunteer family advocate with Health Leads DC at Children's National Medical Center.
